Baltimore Ravens Tight End Mark Andrews

PALM BEACH, Fla. — Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh confirmed Monday during the NFL Annual Meeting that he fully expects tight end Mark Andrews to remain with the team through the 2025 season. This assurance comes amid swirling trade rumors and the player’s uncertain contract status entering the final year of a four-year deal.

Harbaugh stated that he has maintained contact with Andrews throughout the offseason. “Mark’s in a good place. He’s working really hard,” Harbaugh said. “I do fully expect him to be playing for us next year. He’s just too good a player.”

Andrews, along with teammates Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar, is approaching the last year of his contract, raising questions about the tight end position’s future in Baltimore. The Ravens aim to keep all three players, whom they believe collectively form one of the league’s best tight end groups.

The Ravens demonstrated their commitment to Andrews by paying a reported $4 million roster bonus on March 17, further suggesting they intend to retain him. Andrews has a notable history with quarterback Lamar Jackson, as both players entered the league together in 2018 and have developed significant on-field chemistry.

As the all-time leader in Ravens’ history with receiving touchdowns, totaling 51, Andrews led the team with 11 touchdowns in the previous season. He finished the 2024 campaign with 673 receiving yards on 55 catches but faced criticism after a pivotal fumble and failure to secure a game-tying two-point conversion in Baltimore’s playoff loss to the Buffalo Bills.

“We’ll see what happens, but my plans are that we’ve got Mark, we have Isaiah, we have Charlie, we have Pat Ricard all in place doing all those jobs,” Harbaugh added, indicating that the Ravens are keen on maintaining depth at the position.

In his six seasons with the Ravens, Andrews has been a standout player, garnering three Pro Bowl selections and a first-team All-Pro nomination in 2021. The uncertainty regarding his contract has led to speculation about a potential trade, especially given the financial implications of his $16 million cap hit. However, with Harbaugh’s recent statements, it appears the Ravens are committed to keeping Andrews as part of their roster.

Looking ahead, negotiations for a contract extension could occur, as the Ravens look to secure Andrews long-term. His previous four-year extension valued at $37.6 million in 2021 sets a benchmark for what future contracts may entail.

Overall, the Ravens are optimistic about their roster heading into the upcoming season and are focused on making another run for the Super Bowl, with Andrews expected to play a pivotal role in their success.
