Ravindra Jadeja Joins Select Group Of Indian Bowlers With 550 International Wickets

India spinner Ravindra Jadeja achieved a significant milestone as he completed 550 international wickets with the prized scalp of Joe Root during Day 1 of the first Test between India and England in Hyderabad. The achievement places Jadeja in an elite group of Indian cricketers who have reached such a high number of international wickets, including legendary players like Harbhajan Singh, Kapil Dev, Zaheer Khan, and Javagal Srinath. Jadeja’s contribution to Indian cricket is not only celebrated through this achievement but also highlights his crucial role in shaping India’s cricketing history.

In the opening match, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley started aggressively against Indian pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. However, the momentum shifted in India’s favor once the spinners, including Jadeja, came into play.

It was in the 12th over that Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Duckett, followed by Jadeja removing Ollie Pope. Joe Root then came to the crease and survived a close LBW appeal off Jadeja’s second ball. Crawley departed shortly after, but Root and Jonny Bairstow steadied England’s innings.

However, post-lunch on Day 1, Jadeja struck again, sending Root back to the pavilion after he had scored 29 runs. This marked Jadeja’s 550th international wicket and added to his already impressive record, underlining his crucial role in India’s bowling attack and his consistent performance across all formats of the game.
