Real Madrid Mallorca Laliga Match

MADRID, Spain — Real Madrid may find itself in a precarious situation as injuries leave the team with only 10 first-team players available for their crucial LaLiga match against Mallorca on Wednesday. This shortage could result in an illegal lineup, leading to a possible disqualification and loss by forfeit.

The upcoming match is critical for both teams. A loss for Real Madrid would allow Mallorca to secure a place in next season’s LaLiga. Meanwhile, Barcelona could wrap up the league championship with a victory over Madrid, putting increased pressure on the capital side.

Goalkeeper Andriy Lunin sustained a right hand injury during training, while midfielder Brahim Díaz is out due to a thigh injury, leaving the club scrambling. The team’s confirmed starters include Thibaut Courtois, Fran García, Fede Valverde, Luka Modric, Jude Bellingham, and Kylian Mbappé, among others. Jesús Vallejo is set to begin on the bench.

The Spanish Football Federation mandates that teams field a minimum of seven registered first-team players. If Real Madrid cannot meet this requirement, they risk having the match suspended and could automatically lose. Other injured players include Vinícius Júnior and Lucas Vázquez, who both suffered injuries during the recent Clasico loss to Barcelona on Sunday.

Head coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed concern over the team’s fitness level and addressed the injuries during a press meeting. “It’s been a tough week for us,” he said. “Rodrygo also felt discomfort in training, which complicates things further.”

With Ancelotti’s departure to coach Brazil confirmed for the end of the season, Real Madrid is also finalizing an agreement for Xabi Alonso to take over. As the tense situation continues to unfold, the club must navigate the match against Mallorca with significant caution.
