NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Reba McEntire, the Queen of Country Music, recently reminisced about her iconic hairstyles and her cherished friendship with fellow country legend Dolly Parton during a segment on NBC’s Happy’s Place.

In a candid moment, McEntire reflected on one of her most memorable hairstyles from 1985, where she donned a super-curly, ear-length haircut during the 60th Anniversary celebration of the Grand Ole Opry. This look, reminiscent of the ’80s, showcased a carefree style that perfectly complemented her vibrant stage presence.

“I love changing up my look. No matter how I style my hair, I feel great,” McEntire shared, emphasizing her adventurous spirit when it comes to fashion. Throughout her career, she has embraced various hairstyles, embodying what many fans describe as a hairstyle chameleon.

Beyond her evolving aesthetics, McEntire opened up about her close relationship with Parton, who has long been a significant influence in her life and music. In a 2023 interview, she stated, “I grew up listening to Dolly Parton and her first album, My Blue Ridge Mountain Boy. I love that album because she wrote songs and told a story. I like a song that tells a story.”

The two artists share not just a professional bond but a deep personal connection. “Dolly and I love what we do. We’re not here to judge or preach,” McEntire expressed, highlighting their shared values as artists.

Interestingly, McEntire admitted that she does not have Parton’s phone number, a fact that might surprise fans given their closeness. Instead, they rely on less conventional methods of communication. “I asked Kenny Rogers if he had Dolly’s number, and he said, ‘No,’” McEntire recounted during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live. “We communicate via fax!”

In addition to her reflections on her career and relationships, McEntire has been active in the entertainment scene. She recently helped bring back Christopher Rich, her longtime friend and co-star from the sitcom Reba, to the spotlight. Rich had a debilitating stroke in 2018 that left him unsure about his acting future.

“If anybody was going to drag me out of the dark corner of the closet, it would be the redhead,” Rich admitted, crediting McEntire for encouraging him to return to acting. Despite the challenges he faced, Rich found comfort and support from McEntire and castmate Melissa Peterman during his recovery.

“They were my champions,” Rich said, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support. “They would invite me to parties and send me gifts. Melissa used to bring me treats in the hospital.”

Rich now plays a tattoo artist named Maverick in the comedy Happy’s Place, which has garnered positive attention and recently confirmed its renewal for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. The show has drawn a viewership of over 17 million, showcasing the continued appeal of McEntire and her co-stars.

As for McEntire, she remains a fan favorite, continuously evolving her style and making impactful connections within the music community. Her legacy as a talented artist, friend, and influencer in country music is poised to flourish in the years to come.

“We’re just happy doing what we love,” McEntire concluded, reaffirming her commitment to her craft and the relationships that enrich her life.
