Texas Tech Tcu Basketball Game

FORT WORTH, Texas — The No. 9 Texas Tech Red Raiders travel to Fort Worth Tuesday for a 7 p.m. showdown against TCU, looking to maintain their recent momentum after a dominant 93-55 victory over Oklahoma State. The Red Raiders, with a record of 20-5 and 11-3 in the Big 12, aim for a season sweep against the Horned Frogs, having defeated them earlier this season in Lubbock.

Texas Tech coach Grant McCasland praised his team’s chemistry and performance. ‘This team is believing in each other and playing extremely hard,’ McCasland said. Over the last ten games, Texas Tech has secured wins in nine of them, showcasing their skill and determination on the court.

JT Toppin, the standout forward for the Red Raiders, has taken center stage with impressive performances, including a career-high 41 points in a double-overtime win against Arizona State. He was named the Big 12 Player of the Week after averaging 31.3 points and 13.3 rebounds in his last three games. ‘He’s healthy; when you see him move it’s not hard to tell he’s healthy,’ McCasland remarked, highlighting Toppin’s crucial role in their offensive strategy.

In their previous meeting, Texas Tech defeated TCU 71-57 on January 29. Toppin led the charge in that matchup with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while guard Chance McMillian contributed 16 points and Jace Posey provided consistent scoring efforts for the Horned Frogs. TCU enters the game on a two-game winning streak, including a thrilling buzzer-beater victory over Oklahoma State.

TCU’s redshirt freshman Jace Posey has emerged as a key player, scoring 20 points in their latest win against Arizona State. He expressed confidence in his contributions, stating, ‘I’m staying the course. Some things are going to go your way, and some things are not. If you can just stay the course, when your moment comes, you should perform.’

TCU’s Noah Reynolds, leading the team with an average of 12.8 points per game, also emphasized the importance of defense in their recent successes. ‘We need more of a consistent effort on defense,’ Reynolds said. ‘When we guard at a high level, it translates directly to winning for our basketball team.’

As both teams prepare for this high-stakes matchup, Texas Tech aims not only for a season sweep over TCU but also to solidify their standing within the Big 12 conference. A victory could bolster their national ranking further ahead of their next game against Houston next Monday, while TCU looks to gain ground in the competitive landscape of the conference.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and available via the Texas Tech Sports Network, with live coverage starting at 7 p.m.
