Red Sox Vs Angels Baseball Fenway Park

BOSTON, MA — After a disappointing 2-4 road trip, the Boston Red Sox return to Fenway Park Monday to kick off a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels at 7:10 p.m. ET. The Red Sox managed a series win against the Atlanta Braves, with pitcher Garrett Crochet allowing only one run and striking out 12 over seven innings in the finale.

Despite the recent success, the Red Sox hold a record of 29-32, three games below .500, and sit in fourth place in the American League East. The Angels are similarly struggling, at 26-32 and also in fourth place, but in the American League West.

The Red Sox made a roster change Monday, reinstating infielder Romy Gonzalez from the 10-day injured list and optioning Nate Eaton to Triple-A Worcester.

Richard Fitts will start for the Red Sox, who are looking for a strong performance after a rocky season. The Angels will counter with veteran lefty Tyler Anderson. In previous matchups, Fitts has not faced any batters from Los Angeles.

Consistent offensive contributions are crucial for the Red Sox, especially from Rafael Devers, who recently led Major League Baseball with 33 RBIs in May. He has a .286 batting average, a .408 on-base percentage, and was recognized for his exceptional performance. However, Devers is now adjusting his role to a designated hitter after the Red Sox signed Alex Bregman.

In the Angels’ lineup, three-time MVP Mike Trout returns after missing almost a month due to a knee injury, a much-needed boost for the team as they seek to turn their season around. Anderson, on the mound for the Angels, is 1-1 with a career ERA of 5.30, having not secured a win since April 18.

As both teams look to gain footing in their respective divisions, this matchup holds significant importance early in the week. The Red Sox will look to build upon their recent victory while the Angels hope to capitalize on Trout’s return. The game will be broadcasted on NESN and WEEI-FM 93.7.
