Reds Game Weather Delay

Cincinnati, Ohio — The Cincinnati Reds‘ scheduled game against the Minnesota Twins at Great American Ball Park has been delayed due to severe weather.

As of 7:51 p.m., Reds officials have not provided a timetable for when the game, originally set to start at 7:10 p.m., might begin. As the delay approached the hour mark, a message displayed on the stadium’s scoreboard informed fans of the situation.

The message read, "Fans, the storm is moving quickly to the northeast but remains in our area currently. Weather includes heavy rain and lightning. Please move to the concourse area. We will provide another update as we get more information. Thank you."

While rainfall at the stadium has lightened, there is still standing water on some grass areas of the field and the warning track. The National Weather Service has indicated that Great American Ball Park and its surrounding areas are under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.

Prior to the delay, the grounds crew covered the dirt infield with a tarp around 6:30 p.m. The Enquirer will provide updates as more information becomes available.
