REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Electronic Arts (EA) has launched a nostalgic celebration of its iconic life-simulation franchise, re-releasing classic titles “The Sims” and “The Sims 2” as part of the 25th anniversary of the series. The games are now available in three collections: “The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle,” “The Sims: Legacy Collection,” and “The Sims 2: Legacy Collection.”

The collections, which include the base games and numerous expansion packs, are compatible with Windows 10 and 11 and can be purchased on the EA App, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The 25th Birthday Bundle combines both Legacy Collections and retails for $39.99, while the individual collections are also available separately.

“The Sims: Legacy Collection” features the original “The Sims” game along with seven expansion packs, including “The Sims: Livin’ Large,” “The Sims: House Party,” and “The Sims: Makin’ Magic.” It also includes “The Sims 4: Throwback Fit Kit” as bonus content. Meanwhile, “The Sims 2: Legacy Collection” offers “The Sims 2” and 17 expansion packs, such as “The Sims 2: University,” “The Sims 2: Nightlife,” and “The Sims 2: Pets,” alongside “The Sims 4: Grunge Revival Kit.”

Kate Gorman Revelli, vice president and general manager of “The Sims,” expressed excitement about the re-release. “Bringing back our original ‘Sims’ games where all the chaos first unfolded and the life simulation genre began is special for our team and a birthday treat for our players,” she said. “Our players have been wishing to relive all the nostalgia, and we knew our birthday would be the perfect moment to celebrate with them and introduce ‘The Sims’ to new players.”

The re-release coincides with the 10th anniversary of “The Sims 4,” the current iteration of the franchise, which EA continues to expand. The company has also hinted at future projects within the “Sims” universe, ensuring the franchise remains a cornerstone of life-simulation gaming for years to come.

EA Play Pro members on the EA App will have unlimited access to both Legacy Collections, offering fans a chance to revisit the games that pioneered the genre. The collections are designed to evoke nostalgia while introducing new players to the series’ rich history.
