Renowned Kannada Actor Aparna Vastarey Passes Away After Battling Lung Cancer
Renowned Kannada actor, television presenter, and former radio jockey Aparna Vastarey passed away on Thursday night after a courageous battle with lung cancer. The 57-year-old actor’s husband, Nagaraj Vastarey, confirmed her passing, revealing that she had been fighting the disease for the past two years.
Aparna Vastarey was widely known for her captivating presence as a presenter on DD Chandana, where she hosted various government programs and events. Her impeccable diction in Kannada endeared her to many fans, establishing her as a prominent figure in the industry.
In 1998, Vastarey set a remarkable record by hosting shows non-stop for a staggering eight hours as part of Diwali celebrations. Her talent and dedication to her craft were evident, making her a household name in Karnataka.
Having made her cinematic debut in 1984 with the late director Puttanna Kanagal’s film ‘Masanada Hoovu’, Aparna Vastarey ventured into television with appearances in numerous Kannada TV shows over the years, showcasing her versatility and talent.
Additionally, Vastarey lent her voice to the announcements for the Bengaluru Metro, further solidifying her presence in the daily lives of people across the city. Her participation in reality TV shows like Bigg Boss and her role as ‘Varalakshmi’ in the popular comedy program ‘Majaa Talkies’ were widely appreciated.
