Residents Ordered to Evacuate as Greer Fire Grows

GREER, AZ — All residents of Greer and South Fork must evacuate immediately due to the Greer Fire, which ignited around 11 a.m. Tuesday. The fire has already burned approximately 10 acres, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management confirmed that multiple structures have been destroyed by the blaze. In response to the escalating situation, officials have placed both communities on ‘GO’ status, urging residents to leave without delay.
The region is currently under a Red Flag Warning, which indicates that conditions are favorable for fire growth. Such warnings suggest that any new fires would escalate rapidly.
Due to safety concerns, power has been cut to the affected areas by the local utility company, APS. Authorities had previously indicated that extreme fire weather, like the current Red Flag Warning, could lead to power outages.
As of now, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
