Rhode Island Firefighters Battle for Cash on Wheel of Fortune

NARRAGANSETT, RI — Three North Providence firefighters took to the iconic game show “Wheel of Fortune” on Monday night, competing for bragging rights and cash prizes.
Darrin Gallagher from Narragansett, Tim Stebenne from Lincoln, and Missy Porter from Johnston showcased their skills in hopes of winning big. Gallagher ended the night victorious, earning $20,000.
Stebenne finished with more than $12,000, while Porter brought home $7,000. Gallagher had an opportunity to win over $100,000 but fell short during the bonus round when the phrase “Taking a whiff” was revealed.
The episode featured the theme “Bragging Rights,” where contestants compete among friends or co-workers. The trio brought a unique camaraderie to the show, including some light-hearted banter about firehouse donut etiquette. Gallagher voiced his frustration with people who cut donuts in half, arguing they inevitably return for the rest.
“It was the type of banter you don’t see often on game shows,” Gallagher said.
Gallagher demonstrated impressive skills during his time on the show, solving puzzles like “Permanent Vacation” with only a few letters revealed. The friendly competition ended with Gallagher at the top, Stebenne in second, and Porter in third.
Gallagher humorously noted, “I’ll save the real bragging for when we get back to Rhode Island.” They each received medals and posed on stage, marking a memorable night.
After the show, Gallagher shared on Instagram, “I feel great… We had a fantastic time. I got to meet Vanna. She’s an icon.” Missy added she was satisfied with her third place, hinting she might use it as a number for her fire engine.
