Rishabh Pant Resumes Wicketkeeping Practice Ahead Of Ipl 2024, Delhi Capitals Fans Rejoice

Delhi Capitals‘ wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has initiated wicketkeeping practice ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, bringing smiles to the faces of DC fans.

After receiving the green signal to play in IPL 2024 from the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, Pant has commenced his wicketkeeping drills. Head coach of Delhi Capitals, Ricky Ponting, shared this encouraging news.

Pant had been out of action following a horrific car accident in December 2022, undergoing a 15-month recovery period. Now, he’s gearing up to set the stage on fire again for Delhi in the league’s 17th season.

It is believed that Pant is currently involved in promotional shoots for the upcoming tournament and will be residing in Delhi for a few days before heading to Vishakhapatnam to join the camp for IPL 2024 preparations.

Ponting, speaking on an ICC review, revealed that Pant has started wicketkeeping practice at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He mentioned that the management had not yet made a decision on Pant’s role since his full recovery status for IPL 2024 was uncertain. Nevertheless, Pant’s hard work towards his return has not gone unnoticed.

Addressing the significant decision, Ponting noted, “This was a big call because if he is fit, you have to consider him in the captaincy role directly if he can handle the responsibility. And if he’s not fully fit, we’ll try to use him in a slightly different role. Some decisions need to be made then.”

The Delhi Capitals team is set to kick off their campaign in IPL 2024 with a match against Punjab Kings in Mohali on March 23. Following this, their next encounter is scheduled against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur on March 28.

During the initial phases of the IPL, Delhi Capitals’ home ground will be at Vishakhapatnam. The team is lined up to play their third game on March 31 against Chennai Super Kings and their fourth match on April 3 against Kolkata Knight Riders.
