Robert Fripp and Toyah Willcox Charm Fans with ‘Stacy’s Mom’ Performance
Robert Fripp, the founder of the renowned progressive rock band King Crimson, alongside his wife Toyah Willcox, has delighted fans once again with a nostalgic performance. The couple, known for their unique Sunday Lunch series, shared a rendition of Fountains of Wayne’s 2003 hit “Stacy’s Mom.”
Toyah expressed her joy of performing with her husband, saying, “I also love seeing my husband on stage. It’s such a joy because normally we’re on different continents. To be on stage together, it’s an absolute joy!”
Robert Fripp also mentioned his long-standing connection to the band Metallica. During a previous episode of a show involving music creators, Fripp noted that Metallica’s Kirk Hammett admired the dual guitar work of Fripp and Adrian Belew on King Crimson’s “Discipline” album, particularly in the song “Frame by Frame.”
Discussing his musical influences, Fripp listed iconic guitarists and musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, John McLaughlin, Jimmy Page, and Chuck Berry. He also mentioned Scotty Moore, renowned as Elvis Presley’s guitarist, and Little Richard, whose powerful performance style left a lasting impression on Fripp.
