Rocket League Discontinues Esports Tokens Amid Major Shop Updates

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Players of Rocket League can no longer purchase Esports Tokens, a unique in-game currency previously used to buy items from the Esports Shop. This change comes as part of a broader update announced for the game, aimed at simplifying in-game transactions.
Starting April 22, 2025, all purchases in the newly renamed RLCS Shop will be conducted using Credits, the game’s primary currency. The developers indicated that this transition is intended to streamline the buying process and enhance user experience.
The decision to remove Esports Tokens was explained in a recent developers’ blog, which outlined the future of esports-related items in Rocket League. “We believe consolidating in-game currencies will create a more cohesive shopping experience for players,” the blog stated.
For players holding leftover Esports Tokens, there is a conversion plan in place. Any remaining Tokens will be converted to Credits, with players receiving a 10% bonus on their converted total, rounded to the nearest 50 Credits. The conversion rate in the U.S. is approximately 1 Esports Token for 0.99 Credits.
Alongside the currency change, the RLCS Shop will introduce new universal Decals inspired by RLCS teams, which can be equipped on most Car Bodies, excluding certain licensed ones. Additionally, new Takeover Goal Explosions featuring RLCS themes will be available.
Prior to this change, Esports Tokens were offered in various bundles. The developers encourage players to follow official social media channels for ongoing updates about these changes and future items.
