“The Rookie” Season 7 Premieres with New Timeslot and Intense Challenges
LOS ANGELES, Calif. — “The Rookie” Season 7 premiered on ABC on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, marking its return after a strike-shortened Season 6. The hit procedural drama, starring Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, the LAPD‘s oldest rookie, has moved to a new timeslot, airing Tuesdays at 10:00 p.m. ET.
The series, created by Alexi Hawley, continues to follow Nolan and his fellow officers as they navigate the challenges of police work. Season 7 promises a larger episode count and introduces new cast members, including Patrick Keleher, Deric Augustine, and Ivan Hernandez, alongside returning stars Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Alyssa Diaz, Mekia Cox, Shawn Ashmore, and Jenna Dewan.
The premiere episode, titled “The Watcher,” aired on Jan. 14, 2025, and featured the recurring theme of “Plain Clothes Day,” where rookies are observed by their training officers in a high-stakes evaluation. The episode also introduced a department-wide hunt for a masked vigilante, adding tension to the already stressful day for the rookies.
Season 7 episodes are available to watch live on ABC and will be available on demand the next day. Previous seasons, 1 through 6, are currently streaming on Hulu.
Fans of the show can expect more intense storylines and character development as the season progresses. The series has been praised for its realistic portrayal of police work and the personal lives of its characters, making it a standout in the procedural drama genre.
