Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Shares Reasons for Moving Family to London

London, England — Rosie Huntington-Whiteley opened up about her family’s move from Los Angeles to London during a recent interview. The model and actress, 38, revealed that it was always part of her plan to raise her children in the UK, citing family and education as top priorities.
“We love the schools, the education. They’re growing up British with their little British accents, which was important for us, and we have a great support system here,” Huntington-Whiteley said. Her children, Jack Oscar Statham, 7, and Isabella James Statham, 3, benefit from having family nearby. “Jay’s parents live up the road and see the kids most days, my family come to visit every six or eight weeks,” she added.
The couple, who made the move in 2020, had been living in Los Angeles for nearly a decade. The change was an adjustment for Huntington-Whiteley, who missed the California sunshine and its “eternal optimism”. “But now I love it here,” she remarked.
Huntington-Whiteley also shared that her fiancé, actor Jason Statham, plays a vital role in their family’s life. “He was worried about being away from us for long stretches while shooting movies. If we move to London, I can make everything there. So that was a really big reason,” she explained.
Throughout the interview, Huntington-Whiteley praised Statham as a hands-on dad, humorously referring to him as the “human playground” for their children. “He’s so playful and incredibly attentive. I’m lucky to work while he’s with them,” she said.
Although they have been together since 2009 and got engaged in 2016, marriage isn’t currently a priority for them. “It’s not something that’s ever been massively important to me. If we do, it will be low-key,” she stated.
Both celebrities have invested heavily in their new life, purchasing luxury homes in London while adjusting to the challenges of parenthood. Huntington-Whiteley noted, “Being a mum is challenging. You never know if you’re doing it right. The journey is more important than the destination. Life is really short.” This sentiment encapsulates her current outlook as she navigates motherhood and family life in her native country.
