Roy Keane, a former Manchester United midfielder, has publicly criticized player Christian Eriksen for comments made following Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against FC Twente in the Europa League. Keane’s remarks were made during his appearance on “Stick to Football,” a show sponsored by Sky Bet.

During the match, Eriksen played a crucial role, scoring for Manchester United but later losing possession, which led to FC Twente’s equalizer. After the game, the Danish international expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “I think we are mostly disappointed as a team. I think, obviously we wanted more but in the end it was far from good enough. Also in the changing room they looked like they wanted it more than us and that can’t be right.”

Keane took issue with Eriksen’s comments, arguing that they were inappropriate for a player of his experience. “Eriksen’s an experienced international player, vastly experienced,” Keane commented. “Even if you feel that [the opposition wanted it more], you don’t bloody say it, do you, you fool. Someone should get a grip of him and say ‘Why are you sending messages about us for?'”

The criticism from Keane highlights the pressure on Manchester United, both domestically and abroad. Currently, under the management of Erik ten Hag, the team is placed 14th in the Premier League standings. The poor start to the season includes losses to Brighton, Tottenham, and Liverpool.

Erik ten Hag, the manager, is under scrutiny as the squad prepares for upcoming fixtures against Brentford and West Ham following the international break. Manchester United has only managed eight points in their first seven league games, and fans and commentators alike are looking for improvements.
