Royal Ontario Museum Appoints Joe Aschaiek as Deputy Director & Chief Financial Officer
The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) has announced the selection of Joe Aschaiek as its Deputy Director & Chief Financial Officer, a position slated to commence on March 25, 2024. In this capacity, Aschaiek will oversee the financial strategies, execution, and management of the Museum’s finance, accounting, and procurement functions. Additionally, he will be entrusted with supervising the financial planning for ROM’s multi-year strategic business plan, annual and capital budgets, and capital structure.
Before joining ROM, Aschaiek had a distinguished career at Woodbine Entertainment, where he spent over two decades and held the role of Chief Financial Officer for the last ten years. In his tenure at Woodbine, Aschaiek was responsible for steering the finance operations of a complex organization boasting more than 1,500 employees. The company’s diverse portfolio encompassed entertainment, property development, food and beverage operations, and retail sales. Aschaiek brings to ROM his expertise and accreditations as a CPA and CA, as well as valuable board experience having served on the boards of Habitat for Humanity GTA and the William Osler Health System Foundation.
