Rugby Community Mourns the Loss of Highlanders Player Connor Garden-Bachop
The rugby community is in mourning following the tragic passing of Highlanders player, Connor Garden-Bachop, at the age of 25. His sudden demise, attributed to a medical event, has sent shockwaves through the New Zealand Rugby fraternity.
Connor Garden-Bachop, son of former All Black Stephen Bachop, had been a key figure for the Highlanders in the recent Super Rugby season, showcasing his talent as a dynamic outside back.
Having also represented the Maori All Blacks, Garden-Bachop came from a family deeply rooted in New Zealand rugby, with his mother Susan having played for the Black Ferns and uncle Graeme Bachop donning the All Blacks jersey.
Described as a committed teammate with infectious energy, Garden-Bachop’s presence on and off the field left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
