Sabalenka Reaches Cincinnati Open Final
Aryna Sabalenka has made her way to the Cincinnati Open final after a solid performance against Poland’s Iga Swiatek, winning the semi-final match 6-3, 6-3.
This was Sabalenka’s first time reaching the final at this tournament, and she showcased her competitive edge with an aggressive and fast-paced style throughout the match.
In the other semi-final, American player Jessica Pegula faced a tough challenge as she went up against Spain’s Paula Badosa. Pegula managed to come out on top with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, despite a rain delay that briefly paused the match.
Sabalenka shared her thoughts post-match, mentioning how she focused on trusting herself and not trying to hit the ball too hard. Her strategy paid off, as she maintained pressure on Swiatek, who struggled to match Sabalenka’s pace.
Meanwhile, Pegula, who recently won the Canada Open, is looking to make history by becoming the first woman in over 50 years to claim both the Canada and Cincinnati titles in the same year.
As the final approaches, Sabalenka will be playing in her ninth WTA 1000 final, while Pegula gears up for her fifth final of this level.
