San Diego Gears Up for St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations

SAN DIEGO — St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner, and San Diego County is kicking off the festivities early this year. A variety of events will take place from March 15 to March 17, offering both family-friendly and lively celebrations for all ages.
The Irish Congress of Southern California is hosting its annual festival with the theme “Celebrating Irish Business” on March 16. The event promises live entertainment, food booths, vendors, and family activities. Admission is free for attendees under 21 or with a military ID, while adults over 21 will pay a $10 entry fee.
Additionally, 30 local bars and venues have teamed up to provide a comprehensive way to experience San Diego’s nightlife scene on St. Paddy’s Day. Pass prices vary but include options for drink tasters and special parking deals.
This Saturday marks the seventh annual San Diego Leprechaun Run, with a 5K and Kids’ 1-mile race planned in Pacific Beach. Registration costs $59 for adults and $35 for kids, with participants receiving t-shirts, finishers’ medals, and a complimentary drink.
For families looking for educational and fun activities, the Junior Science Club will offer a special event on March 15, featuring experiments like changing the color of cabbage.
One of the highlights of the weekend will be the Gaslamp Quarter Irish Festival, celebrating its 29th year. Attendees can enjoy continuous live music from Irish rock bands, food, and a lively atmosphere throughout the downtown area.
Hooleys Public House, a cherished location for pub grub, will host a St. Patrick’s Day party featuring traditional Irish food and live music, with no cover charge. This family-friendly event welcomes all ages.
Point Loma’s Luck O’ Loma celebration will run from March 15 to March 17, featuring green beer, festive foods, and live bands at GoodBar. The event spreads across three days, making it a prime destination for celebrating.
On St. Patrick’s Day itself, attendees can indulge in Irish stew, non-alcoholic drinks, and traditional dance performances at various venues throughout the county, ensuring festive fun all day long.
