San Francisco 49ers Waive Wide Receiver Ronnie Bell Ahead of Week 13
The San Francisco 49ers made a significant roster move on Friday, announcing the waiver of wide receiver Ronnie Bell. This decision comes just before their Week 13 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Bell, who was drafted by the 49ers in the seventh round (253rd overall) of the 2023 NFL draft, had a challenging time establishing himself as a key player in the team. Throughout his two-year career with the 49ers, he appeared in 26 games, accumulating eight receptions for 90 yards and three touchdowns.
Despite his promising college career at the University of Michigan, where he was named the offensive rookie of the year in 2018 and an All-Big Ten selection in 2022, Bell struggled to make a significant impact in the NFL. His performance was often scrutinized, and he failed to carve out a consistent role in the 49ers’ offense.
Bell’s college achievements included leading the Michigan Wolverines in receiving yards during the 2019 season and setting a career-high with 150 receiving yards against Michigan State. However, these successes did not translate to the professional level, leading to his waiver by the 49ers.
