Sara Ramirez’s Character Missing in Season Three of And Just Like That

NEW YORK, NY — The third season of “And Just Like That” premiered recently, but fans noticed the absence of Sara Ramirez as Che Diaz. The character, a non-binary stand-up comedian, was previously the love interest of Miranda, played by Cynthia Nixon. Che sparked mixed reactions among viewers, with some critics calling the character a caricature of queer culture.
Ramirez, who is also a producer on the show, expressed surprise at the negative feedback towards Che. In an interview, she shared, “A friend of mine brought it up to me, and it’s like: ‘What are you talking about?’ And he said: ‘Yeah, there’s all this conversation.’ I’ve been an actor for 50 years and I’ve almost never paid attention to peripheral chatter. I loved working with them.”
Meanwhile, Nixon’s character, Miranda, continues her journey alongside Carrie, portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker. Parker described Carrie as an “antihero,” highlighting the character’s complex nature. “I prefer that to any other description of her, because it allows her to be as male as the men have been,” Parker said. She drew comparisons to Tony Soprano, noting how antiheroes have complex moralities.
Using the term “antihero” allows for deeper character exploration, according to Parker. “An antihero, to me, is somebody that’s not behaving in conventional ways, and she hasn’t ever… A lot of people love her too, though!”
The original series, “Sex and the City,” aired for 94 episodes from 1998 to 2004. The current season of “And Just Like That” is now available on Max.
