SBA Kicks Off ‘Season of Small Business’ with 2024 Small Business Saturday
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is gearing up to celebrate small businesses across the country with the 2024 Small Business Saturday, scheduled for November 30th. This annual event is part of the SBA’s “Season of Small Business” initiative, which aims to promote and support local small businesses during the holiday season.
This year’s theme, “Gift Big, Shop Local,” encourages shoppers to prioritize local small businesses when making their holiday purchases. The campaign highlights the importance of community support and the economic impact that local spending can have on small businesses and their communities.
In addition to the Small Business Saturday event, the SBA has been actively involved in various initiatives to support small businesses. For instance, the SBA is offering disaster relief loans to businesses affected by Hurricane Helene, with a deadline for applications set for December 2.
The SBA also provides resources and webinars to help business owners improve their business credit and leverage it for investment and growth. A recent webinar focused on setting up and building business credit, which is crucial for the financial health and expansion of small businesses.
Furthermore, the SBA collaborates with other government agencies, such as the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), to provide contracting opportunities for small and disadvantaged businesses. The HHS Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) works to facilitate these opportunities, enhancing the participation of small businesses in federal contracting.
