Schroder Upgraded to Play as Pistons Face Timberwolves in Intense Matchup

DETROIT, Michigan — Dennis Schroder has been upgraded to available for the Detroit Pistons’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 30, 2025. After suffering a right quadriceps contusion, the point guard’s status was previously labeled as questionable, but he will be part of the lineup as the Pistons look to extend their winning streak.
In recent games, Schroder has stepped up as a starter following the injury of Cade Cunningham. The veteran, who logged 39 minutes against the Cleveland Cavaliers on March 28, scored 17 points and tallied 10 assists in that matchup. His contributions have been vital for the team, especially in enhancing the bench’d performance.
“I just try to put the team in the best position possible to win,” Schroder said after the Cavaliers game. “I’m ready to step up whenever my name is called.”
Cunningham remains on the injury report and is currently doubtful to play, which further solidifies Schroder’s role in the starting five for the fourth consecutive game if Cunningham is sidelined. Since joining the Pistons post-trade deadline, Schroder has averaged 11 points with five assists and three rebounds per game over 21 appearances.
In the Pistons’ last outing, the situation escalated when a skirmish broke out, leading to several ejections and significant tension during their match against the Timberwolves. The Pistons, who had enjoyed a three-game winning streak, lost key players in the altercation, which proved taxing to their depth.
The Timberwolves made a comeback in that game, defeating the Pistons 123-104 despite trailing by 16 points early on. Julius Randle scored 26 points while Anthony Edwards contributed 25 points and Rudy Gobert dominated the boards with 25 rebounds.
“We remained composed and turned things around in the second half,” said Edwards, who ignited the Wolves’ offense by hitting crucial three-pointers to secure their lead.
The intensity of the game was amplified by the ejections that included players and coaching staff from both teams. Detroit’s head coach, J.B. Bickerstaff, and Minnesota assistant, Pablo Prigioni, were also ejected after heated exchanges
As the teams gear up for their next matchups, the Pistons will face the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 2, while the Timberwolves are set to meet the Denver Nuggets on April 1.
