Scottie Scheffler Considers Repeating Iconic Champions Dinner Menu
Scottie Scheffler, the reigning Masters champion, has hinted at the possibility of repeating his 2023 Champions Dinner menu when he hosts the traditional pre-Masters event in April 2024. In a recent appearance on GOLF‘s “Subpar” podcast, Scheffler expressed contentment with the previous year’s offerings and entertained the idea of serving the same dishes once again.
The Champions Dinner, an esteemed tradition that began in 1952 by Ben Hogan, allows the reigning champion to host a meal for past winners at Augusta National’s clubhouse. They have the privilege of selecting the menu, which is completely sponsored by the host.
Scheffler’s 2023 menu was certainly memorable, featuring cheeseburger sliders served “Scottie style,” firecracker shrimp, tortilla soup, with a choice of Texas ribeye steak or blackened redfish, and concluding with a warm chocolate chip skillet cookie for dessert. “I’m wondering if I should just have the same exact menu,” Scheffler mused during the podcast, highlighting his fondness for the meal composed of his favorite foods.
If Scheffler decides to stick with the previous menu, he wouldn’t be the first to do so. Golf legend Tiger Woods famously repeated his menu in 2003 that had featured porterhouse steak, chicken, and sushi from his 2002 Champions Dinner.
Speculation continues about how many more Green Jackets Scheffler might earn in his career, given his outstanding performances. In 2022, he secured his first major victory by winning the Masters and went on to have a remarkable season, defending his title at the PLAYERS Championship and winning seven PGA TOUR titles, including four Signature Events aimed at showcasing top golfing talent.
Drew Stoltz, the podcast’s co-host, humorously noted that future attendees might tire of the repeated menu if Scheffler continues to win more Masters titles.
