2025 F1 Season: Anthony Davidson Analyzes Dramatic Team Changes

London, UK – The 2025 Formula 1 season is set to commence with significant changes to the driver lineup, as 10 drivers will race with new teams compared to the previous year, including Lewis Hamilton‘s switch to Ferrari.
Hamilton’s move to Ferrari, replacing Carlos Sainz, is considered one of the largest transfers in F1 history. Sainz has transitioned to Williams, while the vacant seat at Mercedes has been filled by 18-year-old Italian Kimi Antonelli, alongside fellow newcomers Liam Lawson at Red Bull, and several others including Oliver Bearman and Jack Doohan.
“I love this driver line-up,” said Anthony Davidson, Sky Sports F1 expert analyst. “It’s young, it’s fresh and that often brings spirited driving. Last year, we witnessed a few sticky moments between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, but the team has worked through those challenges.”
Davidson highlighted the potential for intense intra-team battles, especially considering Hamilton’s new environment at Ferrari. “That combination of Hamilton and Ferrari is stuff that dreams are made of,” he said. “It’s exciting to watch and I believe it could rejuvenate Hamilton.”
As the youngest driver on the grid, Antonelli has big shoes to fill at Mercedes. “Liam knows this is make or break. If he delivers, he’ll secure his future in F1,” Davidson remarked, acknowledging Lawson’s challenging position as Max Verstappen‘s teammate at Red Bull.
Davidson also expressed confidence in Lando Norris, predicting a breakout year for the McLaren driver. “This will be the year Lando comes of age and is the driver to beat,” he said, praising Piastri’s inherent confidence and Norris’s exceptional talents.
On Hamilton’s first race with Ferrari, Davidson noted that “fireworks” are expected, calling the situation “global, headline-grabbing stuff.” He elaborated on Hamilton’s ability to thrive in new environments, suggesting that this new chapter could lead to a resurgence for the veteran driver.
Additionally, Davidson addressed the competitive landscape in the midfield, particularly with driver Jack Doohan at Alpine facing pressure. “He doesn’t have the bedding-in period that lots of other rookies will have,” Davidson said. “But that pressure could drive him to perform at a higher level.”
While Davidson expressed optimism about newcomer Oliver Bearman at Haas, he emphasized the importance of consistent performances to secure a future with Ferrari. “He needs to play his cards well,” he advised.
As the clock ticks down to the Australian Grand Prix on March 14-16, Davidson’s analysis underscores both the excitement and challenges the drivers will face in 2025. With a mix of veteran experience and fresh talent, the upcoming season promises a thrilling spectacle for F1 fans.
