SeaWorld Plans Major Expansion in Orlando with New Hotels and Lifestyle Hubs

ORLANDO, Fla. – SeaWorld is set to launch a substantial transformation of its property in Orlando, aiming to convert 400 acres of underused land into a vibrant space for hospitality and recreation. This initiative marks a shift from its traditional theme park focus to a multi-dimensional lifestyle brand.
The expansion plan includes the development of two distinct hotels. The first will be a 15-story flagship hotel with over 500 rooms featuring direct access to SeaWorld’s parks through a specially designed elevated walkway. This hotel promises breathtaking views of the nearby roller coasters and will include amenities such as a rooftop bar, pools, ballrooms, and large conference venues for both leisure visitors and corporate travelers.
The second hotel aims for a more serene environment, offering approximately 250 rooms on a 50-acre site near Discovery Cove. This six-story hotel will include wellness facilities, dining options, and spaces for events, providing a tranquil escape for guests wanting proximity to marine wildlife while seeking relaxation.
While the hotels are leading the charge, SeaWorld is also considering various other developments for the 400 acres. Executives emphasize the importance of maximizing the value of this prime real estate within a key tourism region. One potential option includes building affordable housing for SeaWorld employees, addressing the intense competition for tourism workers in Orlando.
“Providing housing close to work can greatly benefit recruitment and retention,” said a SeaWorld spokesperson. “It also eases commute issues, especially during busy travel seasons.”
Preliminary planning is already underway, with discussions involving architects, market analysts, and development firms to determine the best use of the land. The company is adopting a modular approach, allowing for flexible, phased development based on market demand.
There is potential for additional attractions, including eco-friendly rides and immersive experiences to encourage longer visits. As SeaWorld shifts its model to incorporate hospitality and lifestyle options, it seeks to attract a new demographic of visitors.
Located in Orlando, one of the world’s top tourist destinations, these developments are expected to complement the region’s booming travel sector. While specific timelines and project partnerships are still being finalized, interest from the development community is already rising.
More updates are expected in the near future as plans take shape for these new hotels and lifestyle hubs, marking a significant evolution for the SeaWorld brand in Central Florida.
