Seema Pahwa Dispels Myth About Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Temperament, Applauds Alia Bhatt’s Work Ethic
Renowned actor Seema Pahwa recently revealed a surprising truth about acclaimed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, busting a popular myth surrounding his temperament. During an interview with Rajshri Unplugged, Pahwa shared that contrary to common belief, she never witnessed Bhansali scolding or yelling at anyone on set.
Pahwa’s revelation came as the teaser for Bhansali’s upcoming project, ‘Heeramandi‘, was released, further amplifying the director’s recent success with Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.
Pahwa explained that taking up the role in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ was a challenging decision for her as she had never worked with Bhansali before. She was unsure of his working style and how comfortable he made his actors feel. Additionally, she was apprehensive about the audience’s acceptance of her in a negative role, considering her previous comedic repertoire.
In the film, Pahwa essayed the character of Sheela mausi, a brothel owner. However, to her surprise, Bhansali had thought of her for the role, allowing her ample space to experiment and showcase her versatility as an actor. Pahwa was pleasantly surprised by the lack of interference from Bhansali during the shooting process.
Pahwa continued to share that although she had heard stories of Bhansali’s temperamental nature and his tendency to yell at the staff, she never personally witnessed it. Despite being on set with him for several days, Pahwa never saw him lose his temper. She considers herself fortunate to have experienced a different side of Bhansali’s personality.
It is worth noting that Seema Pahwa is not the first actor to speak about Bhansali’s temperament. Prior to her, Ranbir Kapoor, who worked with Bhansali in his debut film ‘Saawariya’ and assisted him on ‘Black,’ had shared similar experiences in dealing with the director’s demanding nature.
