Senators Expect Defensive Boost With Return of Sanderson and Zub
The Ottawa Senators are set to receive a defensive boost with the return of defensemen Jake Sanderson and Artem Zub for their upcoming game against the Dallas Stars. Head coach Jacques Martin confirmed the news, stating that both players were fully involved in drills during practice and are ready to go.
This update comes as a positive development for the Senators, who have been missing Sanderson since January 31 due to a lower-body injury. The 21-year-old defenseman has been a key contributor this season, tallying seven goals and 24 assists in 47 games.
Artem Zub, who has missed the team’s last two games with a lower-body injury sustained against the St. Louis Blues, is also expected to return to the lineup. The 28-year-old defenseman has three goals and 15 assists in 40 games this season.
Meanwhile, the Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for their next game with practice line combinations unchanged from their recent loss to the St. Louis Blues. Goaltender Calvin Pickard is slated to start against the Dallas Stars on Saturday.
In other NHL news, the Predators have secured a two-year, $1.8 million contract extension with forward Yakov Trenin. The 28-year-old player, originally selected in the NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators, has been a valuable asset with seven goals and six assists in 42 games this season, bringing his career tally to 18 goals and 39 points in 200 NHL games.
