Sepp Straka Leads American Express Final Round by Four Strokes
LA QUINTA, Calif. — Sepp Straka holds a commanding four-stroke lead heading into the final round of the 2025 American Express golf tournament after a bogey-free 54 holes. Straka, aiming for his third PGA Tour victory, finished Saturday’s round with a dramatic par save to secure his position at 23 under par.
The tournament, held at the Pete Dye Stadium Course at PGA West, has seen intense competition, with Charley Hoffman, Jason Day, and Justin Lower tied for second at 19 under. Hoffman, the 2007 champion, made headlines Saturday with a bold driver-off-the-deck shot on the par-5 16th hole, resulting in a birdie that kept him in contention.
Patrick Cantlay and Mark Hubbard are also in the mix, climbing six spots on the leaderboard after strong performances in the third round. Cantlay, a former runner-up at this event, remains a strong contender with his consistent play.
Sunday’s final round will be broadcast on Golf Channel from 4-7 p.m. ET, with early coverage and featured group streaming available on Peacock starting at 11:45 a.m. ET. Viewers with cable subscriptions can also stream the action live on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports App.
Straka will tee off at 10:50 a.m. alongside Hoffman and Day, while Cantlay, Hubbard, and Lower will start at 10:39 a.m. The challenging course layout and firm greens promise an exciting finish to the PGA Tour’s third event of the year.
“Cantlay has a strong history here, and his experience could be a factor,” said Garry Smits of the Florida Times-Union. “But Straka’s consistency and composure under pressure make him the favorite.”
With $8.4 million in prize money on the line, the final round is set to deliver high-stakes drama as the field battles for the title.
