Pittsburgh Severe Weather Thunderstorms

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Tuesday is marked as a Severe Weather Alert Day with thunderstorms expected late in the day. Clear skies and comfortably cool temperatures will be seen overnight, with lows dipping into the upper 50s by sunrise tomorrow.

According to meteorologists, a summer-like surge will bring warm temperatures in the low to mid-80s Tuesday afternoon, ahead of an approaching cold front. However, most of the thunderstorm activity is anticipated to hold off until late in the day.

The primary threat lies in the evening hours with a line of thunderstorms moving through. A second line is likely to follow later in the night. Forecasters warn of damaging winds, large hail, heavy rain, and lightning, along with an isolated chance of a tornado.

Most of the severe weather is expected to clear the area entirely by midnight Wednesday, with any leftover showers wrapping up early in the morning.

Looking ahead, scattered showers are predicted to return Thursday afternoon and continue into Friday, though neither day appears to be a total washout. Marathon weekend may see cooler temperatures in the 60s, with morning lows in the 40s and mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies expected on Sunday.

Wednesday’s high is forecasted to reach 70 degrees, while Thursday will see a spike to 81 degrees before a significant drop in temperatures returns, resulting in highs of 70 and 62 degrees over the weekend.
