Southeast Rainfall Forecast February 2025

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) – A significant weather shift is underway across the Southeast, with a cooler day forecasted for today and potential heavy rainfall expected in the coming days.

Residents can expect cloudy skies and a high temperature around 50 degrees, marking a significant drop from the previous day’s highs in the 70s. Tonight will bring an early shower, with temperatures dipping into the low to mid-40s.

Heading into Monday, mostly cloudy conditions will persist, with highs in the low to mid-50s. Rain is anticipated to arrive after midnight, bringing lows down to the 40s.

According to the National Weather Service, homeowners should prepare for heavy rain on Tuesday and Wednesday, with total accumulations ranging from 2 to 4 inches, particularly in Marshall and DeKalb counties. Flash flooding of rivers and creeks is possible due to the anticipated excessive rain.

A severe thunderstorm warning is not in effect, but meteorologists urge caution due to the high rainfall amounts. “We’re talking about two days of possible heavy rain, and we want residents to stay alert,” a local weather forecaster said.

By Thursday, lingering showers are expected to diminish early in the day, with cloudy conditions persisting into the afternoon and highs reaching the low 50s. Friday, which coincides with Valentine’s Day, is expected to be sunny with temperatures climbing to the upper 50s, although showers may return that evening.

The weekend forecast suggests more rain, with chances of heavy precipitation potentially extending flooding concerns from the previous week. If the predicted rainfall accumulates as expected, areas affected earlier in the week may experience heightened risks of flooding.
