South Florida Weather Thunderstorms May 2025

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Meteorologists from WPBF 25 are closely monitoring impending weather conditions set to affect South Florida this weekend. Sunday and Monday have been designated as impact days due to the likelihood of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

According to Glenn Glazer, a meteorologist with WPBF 25, temperatures are expected to rise significantly over the weekend. Coastal areas will experience highs in the mid-80s, while inland locations could reach the upper 80s.

Rain chances are predicted to be slightly elevated on Friday and Saturday, particularly for coastal showers. The forecast indicates a greater potential for showers and thunderstorms, particularly on Sunday and Monday.

Radar imagery shows scattered rainfall currently occurring in West Palm Beach, with heavier downpours reported in areas such as Boynton Beach and Belle Glade. Though rainfall has notably cooled temperatures to the low 70s in some areas, the weather is forecasted to clear briefly before those temperatures rise again.

Looking ahead to the weekend, meteorologists expect a general increase in rainfall as a weak front moves in from North Florida. This weather pattern is anticipated to bring more moisture into the area, leading to a heightened chance for precipitation, especially during the afternoons.

As conditions develop, gatherings of showers and a potential rumble of thunder are likely across the region. The forecast includes a rainfall probability of 50% on impact days.

Temperatures will fluctuate slightly today, with current readings around 78 to 81 degrees in various parts of South Florida. The week will wrap up with a mix of sun and rain, which is typical for this time of year.
