Shah Rukh Khan’s Bodyguard Reveals Chaotic Dargah Visit Incident

CHENNAI, India — Celebrity bodyguard Yusuf Ibrahim, known for protecting A-list stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Varun Dhawan, recently shared a gripping account of a chaotic incident involving the Bollywood superstar during a visit to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah. The story, recounted in an interview with Siddharth Kannan on YouTube, has gone viral, shedding light on the challenges of managing celebrity security.
Recalling the event, Ibrahim explained that the visit took place during an IPL season when Shah Rukh Khan decided to visit the revered shrine. However, the timing couldn’t have been worse. “We unintentionally chose a Friday afternoon, around 12:30 PM, coinciding with peak namaaz (prayer) time,” Ibrahim said. The area was already packed with 10,000 to 15,000 worshippers, and news of Khan’s arrival quickly spread, drawing an overwhelming crowd.
“The entire town of Ajmer got to know that Shah Rukh was coming. The crowd was so overwhelming that we didn’t walk; the people literally pushed us to the Dargah and back to the car,” Ibrahim revealed. The situation escalated to the point where police had to resort to a lathicharge (baton charge) to control the crowd.
Despite the chaos, Ibrahim praised Shah Rukh Khan for his composure. “When such situations happen, he’s damn cool. He understands it’s nobody’s fault—not the staff’s or the fans’. It’s just the excitement of his fans, and he handles it gracefully,” Ibrahim said.
In the same interview, Ibrahim also addressed the broader challenges of celebrity security, emphasizing the need for fans to respect boundaries. “Fans need to maintain boundaries and show respect. Instead of rushing in with a phone, they should politely ask if a photo is possible,” he advised. He further highlighted the demanding nature of stardom, noting that celebrities often endure grueling schedules with little personal time.
Ibrahim’s insights into the world of celebrity security have sparked conversations about the pressures faced by stars and the importance of empathy from fans. The incident at Ajmer Sharif Dargah serves as a reminder of the fine line between admiration and intrusion in the lives of public figures.
