DAVIS, Calif. — At least three people were injured in a shooting that occurred at Community Park on Saturday afternoon, April 12, around 3 p.m., as crowds gathered for UC Davis Picnic Day, an annual open house event.

The Davis Police Department confirmed the incident, advising the public to avoid the area near East 14th Street, where the park is located, approximately a mile from the university campus. Despite the ongoing investigation, police stated that there is no credible threat to the campus.

Witnesses reported hearing gunfire amid the festivities celebrating UC Davis Picnic Day, which attracts thousands of students, families, and alumni. The event features numerous activities and is considered the largest student-run event in the nation.
