Simons Struggles in Trail Blazers’ Defeat to Lakers

PORTLAND, Ore. — Anfernee Simons struggled offensively during the Portland Trail Blazers‘ 110-102 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night. The 25-year-old guard scored eight points on 3-of-13 shooting from the field, including a disappointing 0-for-6 from three-point range.
Simons’ performance marked a notable departure from his recent form, during which he had managed to score in double digits for seven consecutive games. Taking to the court for 29 minutes, he also recorded seven assists, four rebounds, and one steal, leading his team in assists despite his shooting woes.
“I just couldn’t find my rhythm tonight,” Simons said after the game. “It’s frustrating, especially when you know you can do better.”
In his last 10 games, Simons has averaged 18.6 points and 6.2 assists while playing approximately 32.9 minutes per game. However, his shooting efficiency has dipped, as he has shot just 41.9 percent from the field during that stretch.
Coach Chauncey Billups acknowledged Simons’ recent struggles but remains optimistic about his contributions moving forward. “He’s been a big part of what we’re trying to do,” Billups stated. “We need him to stay confident and continue to work hard.”
The Trail Blazers are currently facing challenges as they work to find consistency in their game. This loss to the Lakers marks another setback for a team that has seen fluctuating performances this season.
Looking ahead, the Blazers will need to address their offensive inefficiencies if they hope to compete in an increasingly tight Western Conference race. The coaching staff is focusing on helping Simons regain his shooting touch, which could be crucial for the team’s success in the upcoming games.
Injury updates were also a concern for the Trail Blazers as they prepare for their next matchup. Star player Matisse Thybulle was ruled out with an ankle injury, while Deandre Ayton and Robert Williams III are also sidelined due to calf and knee issues, respectively.
