Jannik Sinner Tennis Halle Tournament

Halle, GermanyJannik Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime are set to begin their campaigns at the 2025 ATP Terra Wortmann Open on Tuesday. Sinner, the world No. 1, will face Yannick Hanfmann, while Auger-Aliassime will meet Laslo Djere.

After a tough five-set loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the French Open final, Sinner looks to bounce back on grass, a surface he has excelled on in the past. He enters the tournament as the defending champion after claiming victory in Halle last year.

“Every match is a new challenge. I’m focused on what’s ahead,” said Sinner in a pre-match interview. “I have to forget the past and play my game.”

Yannick Hanfmann has had a mixed season, with a record of 15-14. However, he’s found some success on grass, winning four of his last five matches. Hanfmann hopes to leverage home crowd support against Sinner.

In the other match, Felix Auger-Aliassime, who has lost three of his last five matches, aims to regain form after his semifinal exit in Stuttgart. Despite the recent slump, bookies favor Auger-Aliassime against Djere, who has struggled this season himself, with only two wins in his last five outings.

“I know I can perform well on grass. It’s a different game, and I feel ready,” stated Auger-Aliassime.

Both matches are expected to provide compelling tennis, with Sinner and Auger-Aliassime looking to advance in their first grass-court events of the season.

The matchup between Sinner and Hanfmann is scheduled for 11:30 AM CEST, followed by Auger-Aliassime against Djere at 2:30 PM CEST.
