Tennessee Snowstorm Winter Weather Alert

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A weather alert has been issued for Tennessee as the region braces for accumulating snowfall expected on Wednesday. The Storm 5 Weather Team has declared a Storm 5 Alert from Tuesday at 8 p.m. until Wednesday afternoon due to cold temperatures and an incoming area of low pressure.

Cold air will dominate the week, and moisture from the Gulf will move northward, creating ideal conditions for snow. A winter storm warning has been put in place for West Tennessee, effective from noon Tuesday to noon Wednesday, with expectations that these warnings may expand eastward later today.

Forecasters are still assessing the potential snowfall amounts; however, predictions indicate a strong likelihood of at least one inch of snow accumulating across the area. High temperatures on Wednesday are forecasted to only reach the 20s, while nighttime lows will drop into the teens throughout the NewsChannel 5 coverage area.

The wind is expected to be breezy from the north, causing wind chills to feel like single digits in portions of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky. Residents are encouraged to stay updated with the Storm 5 Weather Team as the forecast remains subject to change with new data.
