Spokane Chiefs Whl Award Ceremony

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Chiefs have been awarded the Western Hockey League’s Business of the Year for the 2024-25 season, marking their second win in three years. This recognition comes after the Chiefs set franchise records in attendance, revenue, and community engagement.

This award is the fourth the Chiefs have received since its inception, with previous wins in the 1995-96, 2000-01, and 2022-23 seasons. The award spotlights clubs that excel in enhancing the fan experience and contributing positively to their communities.

This past season, Spokane ranked second in league attendance, welcoming over 220,000 fans to the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena. They boasted an average of 6,500 fans per game, the highest since 2008-09. The team achieved two sellouts and had 13 games with over 7,500 attendees.

Vice President Jay Stewart credited the successful season to the hard work of staff, players, fans, and sponsors. “It’s a great honor to receive this award, especially knowing how hard everyone in the WHL works throughout the season,” Stewart said. “This recognition reflects the hours, creativity, and dedication in producing a full season of hockey for our community.”

The Chiefs’ success also included a 20% increase in season ticket sales, achieving a 95% renewal rate and record-breaking group ticket sales. They executed promotional nights inspired by other sports teams and raised over $20,000 through theme jersey sales.

Looking ahead, the Chiefs are set to host the Victoria Royals in Game 6 of the WHL playoffs on Tuesday, with a push to clinch the series and advance to the Western Conference finals.
