Spurs’ Mamukelashvili Makes History with 34 Points in Daring Performance

SAN ANTONIO – In a stunning display of talent, San Antonio Spurs forward Sandro Mamukelashvili made NBA history on Wednesday night by scoring a career-high 34 points in less than 20 minutes of play. The remarkable achievement took place at the Frost Bank Center, where the Spurs hosted the New York Knicks.
Despite averaging only 8.9 minutes on the season, Mamukelashvili lit up the court, shooting an astounding 13-of-14 from the field, including 7-of-7 from beyond the arc. His performance was a key factor in securing a 134-98 victory over the Knicks.
“I don’t know what f—ing happened,” Mamukelashvili said, expressing disbelief after the game. “I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. I can’t explain how I feel right now. I feel like I’m in a dream.”
Flavor Flav, a close friend and rapper, energized the crowd of 18,521 fans with chants of “MVP” as he celebrated Mamukelashvili’s historic night. Dressed in a red T-shirt featuring his iconic clock, Flavor Flav even interrupted Mamukelashvili’s postgame interview to proclaim, “I don’t care what nobody says. My man is on fiiiiiiiirrrreee!”
Spurs acting coach Mitch Johnson commended Mamukelashvili’s shooting prowess and work ethic, stating, “It would be ridiculous to say that was expected in 19 minutes and 26 seconds of opportunity. He’s a really good shooter, and you’re just waiting for him to have one of those games.”
Mamukelashvili entered the game just 55 seconds into the second quarter, quickly making his presence felt by scoring 13 points in that quarter alone. He went on to score 21 points in the fourth quarter, maintaining perfect shooting in the final frame.
Teammate Paul praised Mamukelashvili, saying, “When he’s shooting the ball like that, you just try to find the guy. He is an amazing teammate who works hard every day.”
The 25-year-old became only the fourth player in NBA history to shoot 90% or better from the field, 100% from 3-point range, and 100% from the free-throw line in a single game, joining the ranks of legends like Gary Payton and Charles Barkley.
Additionally, the night was extra special for Mamukelashvili as he had just flown in his father, Zurab, along with other family members, to witness the game. His connection with Flavor Flav, who has supported him since 2021, made the moment even more memorable.
“I’m trying to show everybody that I belong,” Mamukelashvili said. “I’m just so happy I have a support team behind me: my girl, my friends, my teammates, my family. It was an unbelievable feeling.”
