2025 Met Gala Red Carpet Fashion

New York City, NY — The 2025 Met Gala has officially begun, showcasing a night of extravagant fashion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” aims to explore Black culture through the lens of dandyism, highlighting its importance to Black identities across the Atlantic diaspora.

Co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour, the gala draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller‘s 2009 book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.” This year’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” emphasizes menswear and showcases the evolution of style.

“The theme takes the Black dandy as its subject, examining the importance of clothing and style in forming Black identities,” said a spokesperson from the Costume Institute. Notable attendees include Zendaya, Jamie Foxx, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Dua Lipa, with more than 450 guests expected to walk the blue carpet adorned with yellow and white flowers.

Although NBA star LeBron James was named an honorary chair, he announced earlier this week he would not attend due to a knee injury. However, his wife, Savannah James, will represent them at the gala.

As the evening progresses, fashion enthusiasts will keep an eye on this year’s gala, celebrating the intersection of culture and style. The event is likely to set new trends while honoring Black contributions to fashion.
