Aaron Rodgers Pittsburgh Steelers Signing

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers have secured a deal with four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers for the 2025 season, according to Tom Peliserro from NFL Network. This signing comes after the Steelers aggressively pursued Rodgers as a top priority following Justin Fields’ signing with the New York Jets.

On March 21, the Steelers welcomed Rodgers for a visit, which reportedly went positively. Although a deal wasn’t finalized that day and speculation arose regarding his potential retirement, it seemed likely that Rodgers would join the team soon.

Rodgers, now 41, faced challenges last year with the Jets, finishing with a 5-12 record and passing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. The previous season, he played only one series before suffering a torn Achilles during the game’s opening moment.

Despite questions surrounding his performance, the future Hall of Famer brings valuable experience. The Steelers now have a Super Bowl-winning quarterback who can mentor a rookie during the upcoming NFL Draft while still remaining competitive.

The team recently traded for star receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks, significantly boosting their offensive capabilities. Although George Pickens was traded to the Dallas Cowboys, the Steelers also have Calvin Austin, Roman Wilson, and Robert Woods on the roster.

While the Steelers hope for a strong season, uncertainty still looms around Rodgers. According to Peliserro, he hasn’t confirmed his commitment to the team yet, leading to speculation about his decision. The Steelers have committed their focus to Rodgers, leaving their quarterback options slightly limited as training camps approach.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the team remains optimistic about Rodgers signing but acknowledged that there is no concrete timeline for a decision. The Steelers’ mandatory minicamp is scheduled for June 10-12, adding urgency to the situation. As time ticks away, only Rodgers knows his future.
