Steve Smith Shocks Novak Djokovic With Jaw Dropping Return

Australian cricket champion Steve Smith left tennis superstar Novak Djokovic in disbelief as he effortlessly returned a full-pace serve from the world number one on his first attempt. Smith’s return caught Djokovic off guard and landed in the back of his court, winning the point for Smith. Given Smith’s experience facing 140km/h cricket balls, his impressive return shouldn’t come as a surprise. Djokovic applauded and even bowed down to the cricket star, acknowledging his skill.

Prior to their encounter, it was reported that Smith had been practicing his tennis swing, and Djokovic jokingly mentioned playing cricket on the beach in Perth. The event, which aimed to raise funds for the Australian Tennis Foundation, featured several athletes challenging Djokovic in their respective sports, including Peter Bol, Georgia Godwin, Allen Williams, and Smith.

In addition to showcasing their abilities, Djokovic also engaged in various tennis matches, including an exhibition set against Stefanos Tsitsipas, a mixed doubles match with Tsitsipas, Maria Sakkari, Aryna Sabalenka, and wheelchair tennis star Heath Davidson.

The Australian Open Opening Week has showcased several charity matches, with Alex de Minaur facing Carlos Alcaraz, followed by Alcaraz playing against Caspar Ruud. The tournament is set to begin on Sunday, with Djokovic and Iga Swiatek as the favored favorites. Djokovic holds a record ten Australian Open titles, while Swiatek is seeking her first victory in Melbourne.
