Stock Market Hours and Holiday Schedule for Thanksgiving 2024
The U.S. stock market will observe specific hours and closures in relation to the Thanksgiving holiday in 2024. On Thursday, November 28, the stock markets, including the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Nasdaq, will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving Day.
On the following day, Friday, November 29, which is known as Black Friday, the stock market will reopen but will close early. The NYSE will close at 1 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST), while the bond market will close at 2 p.m. EST.
In addition to these holiday hours, it is important to note that the regular trading hours for the U.S. stock market are from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST on normal trading days. Extended hours include pre-market trading from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. EST and after-hours trading from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST.
These adjusted hours ensure that traders and investors have time to observe the holiday while also allowing for some trading activity on the day after Thanksgiving.
