Storms and Humidity Expected as Summer Heat Hits D.C. Area

WASHINGTON – A humid and cloudy Tuesday is expected across the D.C. area, with temperatures peaking in the mid-80s. A chance of showers and thunderstorms will persist throughout the day as a cold front approaches.
Morning temperatures in the region will range from the upper 60s to the low 70s, making outdoor conditions feel uncomfortable due to high humidity levels. According to the National Weather Service, spotty showers may develop early, particularly in areas south of Fredericksburg and southern Maryland, as well as northwest near Hagerstown and parts of West Virginia.
The cold front is anticipated to move through later today, providing relief from the oppressive humidity and reducing the likelihood of thunderstorms. Meteorologists forecast temperatures will reach around 84 degrees, with a possibility of pop-up storms in the afternoon.
As the day progresses, skies are expected to clear overnight, leading to drier conditions by Wednesday. Despite a decrease in humidity, Canadian wildfire smoke is likely to return, resulting in hazy sunshine.
Later this week, clouds will build again as temperatures rise, setting the stage for unsettled weather heading into the weekend. The overall trend suggests a continuing chance of both showers and thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday.
