Summerlike Heat Hits Metro Detroit with Showers Expected

Detroit, MI — As temperatures soared into the lower 80s Thursday afternoon, residents in Southeast Michigan experienced a taste of summer. The warm weather, however, was tempered by a cooler breeze in the Thumb, where temperatures remained in the 70s.
The pleasant weather continued into the evening, offering a comfortable atmosphere for Detroit Pistons fans attending games downtown. As they left Little Caesars Arena, temperatures lingered in the upper 60s and lower 70s.
Overnight, clouds began to gather, leading to a drop in temperatures. In the Thumb, lows fell to around 45 degrees, while areas south of I-696 hovered in the mid-50s. Meteorologists advise early risers that Friday morning will feature an astronomical display, as Venus, Saturn, and a crescent moon will appear in the eastern sky. This celestial arrangement is expected to resemble a smiley face, with the best viewing time just before dawn.
However, as the day progresses, the weather will shift. Skies are forecasted to be mostly cloudy, with rain showers and thunderstorms developing by the afternoon. Some thunderstorms could bring heavy rain, while temperatures will peak in the lower to mid-70s, still above the average high of 63 degrees for this time of year.
For Friday night, skies remain overcast, with chances for rain showers continuing. Nighttime temperatures are predicted to cool down to the mid- to upper-40s. Early Saturday morning may bring light sprinkles, but the day will transition to more sunshine with highs reaching around 60 degrees.
On Sunday, expect mostly sunny skies with highs in the lower to mid-60s and lows in the mid-40s. As the forecast continues, daytime temperatures are anticipated to rise back into the 70s by Monday and the 80s by Tuesday.
