Suns’ Williams Out Against Pacers Due to Knee Management
Phoenix, Arizona – Suns center Mark Williams will not play in the game against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night due to “right knee return from injury management.” The Suns opted for caution with the often-injured Williams, who is missing his second back-to-back game this season.
Williams played 26 minutes in the Suns’ recent 123-114 victory over the Dallas Mavericks, contributing 10 points, four rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. The 7-foot center has been a crucial part of the team, starting in eight consecutive games since joining from the Charlotte Hornets.
This season, Williams has averaged 11.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. The Suns will rely on Oso Ighodaro and Nick Richards for depth in the center position, as Williams provides significant paint presence on both ends of the court.
Suns coach Jordan Ott emphasized the importance of player input regarding their health, stating, “Every night, even back-to-back, we’re going to consider everything we get. All intel we gather is important.” He highlighted teamwork as critical, saying, “We may need unexpected support from anyone tonight against a capable opponent like the Pacers.”
In addition to Williams, the Suns will also be without guard Jalen Green, who is re-evaluating a right hamstring strain in 4-6 weeks. Meanwhile, the Pacers, struggling this season with a 1-10 record, are missing several key players, including Johnny Furphy and Tyrese Haliburton, also sidelined by injuries.
The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. MST at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix. Fans can catch the action on local radio and the Arizona Sports app.
