Supernatural Stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki Join The Boys for Season 5

NEW YORK, NY — Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, beloved stars of the long-running series Supernatural, are set to reunite in season five of The Boys, as confirmed by the show’s official social media on February 26, 2025.
Ackles, who portrayed Dean Winchester, reached out to Padalecki via a video message saying, “Hey Jared, we’ve got work to do. Again.” The background poignantly featured a black Chevy Impala, reminiscent of the vehicle from their Supernatural days, and a visible Devil’s Trap. Padalecki, who played Sam Winchester, responded enthusiastically, “OK, I’ll tell Misha,” referring to their former co-star Misha Collins, known for his role as Castiel.
The Boys’ caption for the post read, “Season 5 just got a bit more supernatural,” suggesting that while their characters may not engage in demon hunting, significant antics await viewers in the final season.
After Ackles joined The Boys in 2022 as Soldier Boy, showrunner Eric Kripke had hinted for over a year at a possibility for Padalecki’s involvement. “I would put Jared on the show in a heartbeat,” Kripke told E! News in June 2024. However, conflicting schedules prevented their collaboration until now.
In an interview with Seth Meyers in June 2022, Ackles reflected on Supernatural’s 15-year journey, stating, “It was fantastic. There was a reason why I think we all stuck around… it was a family.” He expressed profound nostalgia for the series that shaped their careers.
Details surrounding Padalecki and Collins’ roles in The Boys remain under wraps, but they are expected to make guest appearances alongside Ackles. Kripke has a vision for season five that involves significant consequences following the climactic events of season four, where Homelander and the supes took control of the U.S. government.
Kripke explained, “Instead of having a villain talk about a thing they’re going to do, which then our heroes stop, it’s just so fun that he really did it. He took over the country. What does that look like in season 5, and how do our characters fight against it?” This shift offers new challenges for the ensemble cast, including returning players Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and Erin Moriarty.
With a growing ensemble cast, including newcomers from previous seasons, the story’s progression promises to deliver heightened tension and excitement. In anticipation of the upcoming season, fans of both Supernatural and The Boys eagerly await further announcements.
The Boys season five marks a notable crossroads for Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins, who have maintained their camaraderie since their Supernatural days. As they embark on this new journey, many wonder how their shared history will influence the dynamics of this highly-anticipated season.
