Supreme Court Rejects K Kavitha’s Plea; Directs Her to Approach Trial Court Against Arrest
In a recent development, the Supreme Court has turned down BRS leader K Kavitha‘s petition challenging her arrest in the Delhi liquor policy case. The apex court advised Kavitha to seek relief from the trial court, emphasizing the need for a uniform legal approach.
A special bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna, MM Sundresh, and Bela Trivedi declined to entertain Kavitha’s plea, asserting that individuals, regardless of their political stature or financial means, must adhere to the established legal procedure.
K Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), was apprehended by the Enforcement Directorate last Friday as part of the ongoing probe into the alleged liquor policy irregularities.
Simultaneously, in a separate incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal‘s arrest in connection with the same case has stirred controversy. Kejriwal, a prominent figure in the Aam Aadmi Party, is the third party leader to face detention, following Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh.
Kejriwal, who spent the night in custody at the enforcement agency’s office, is scheduled to appear before an ED court today. Security measures have been heightened around the AAP office, and traffic restrictions have been enforced in anticipation of protests by his supporters.
